Why is Woven Carpet Better Than Tufted Carpet?
Weaving carpet is a highly precise craft that demands care & skill.
At Crossley, master weavers have developed this skill from years of
making fine woven broadloom. They appreciate the subtleties and the
intricacies of making a superior sophisticated pattern or texture. As a
result, the weaving process is slower than producing traditional tufted
carpets. In comparison, a Crossley loom weaves two rolls of woven
carpet in an eight-hour shift, while 10-20 rolls of tufted carpet can
be produced in the same eight hours. The slower process of carpet
weaving ensures that the look and feel of a Crossley woven carpet is
richer, finer & more luxurious than any other broadloom.
The appearance, finish & overall aesthetics of carpet profound role in the design of an interior. Woven carpets offer an aesthetic that is unmatched by any other manufacturing techniques. Intricate designs, clean tailored patterns, interesting textural effects and superior uniform surface appearances are possible due to the precise placement of different yarns in the carpet face. Woven carpets will reward you as they retain their original appearance longer and ensures trouble free performance.
This trouble free performance is due to the weaving process. When a tufted carpet is manufactured the yarn is punched through a pre-formed primary backing. Then a coating of latex is added and then the final application is the addition of a secondary backing. In the manufacturing process of a woven carpet, pile yarn is interwoven through the backing structure to create one integrated unit. This process ensures that Crossley woven carpets are zipper proof.
Another important feature of a woven carpet is the backing structure. In a Crossley woven carpet the backing structure weighs twice as much as the weight of a tufted carpets primary & secondary backings combined. This ensures that a woven carpet has improved dimensional stability and prevents any threat of delamination which is prevalent in a tufted carpet. To further improve the backing structure a high quality sealent is used. This sealent is three times as pure as conventional tufted sealent. This sealent adds strength which helps make Crossley woven carpets snag resistant.
The last important feature of a woven carpet is in the weaving process which uses a set of long steel wires to guide the yarn in a straight line therefore the selvedges remain straight. The straighrer the line, the easier it is for the installers to mend to edges together and create an invisible seam. You will always get a perfect edge with a Crossley woven carpet.
To ensure only flawless product reaches your home each woven carpet is inspected by a master weaver. Any defects will be removed from the carpet and will be manually repaired by the master weaver.
Woven carpets can maintain optimum appearance for up to 20 years. Life cycle comparison proves that the original investment in quality woven carpets pays off through many years of easy care performance. Unique in its styling, patterning and colour clarity, the life span of woven broadloom can outperform tufted carpet by as many as three times. It offers a special range of benefits to the discerning consumer.
